Dixon Place Theater Posters & Identity
For this project, I wanted to take a little-known theater located on the Lower East Side and give it a much needed update. I began with Paula Scher's iconic posters for the Public - because why not begin a theater poster with another theater poster? I cut these posters into a million pieces and totally obliterated them in all of their glory. I then made new compositions with these scraps, photographed them, and edited out the imagery so that it would pertain to shows coming up at Dixon Place. To create equally unique and handcrafted type, I used white out tape to draw out the letterforms. Finally, I wanted to give the posters bold, contrasting colors to further allow them to stand out. I brought this design style across all collateral for the brand.
